Threads of Exchange

World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026

Threads of Exchange was developed as part of Shifting Objects – Shifting Values, a cross-border exhibition bringing together designers and craftspeople from Denmark and Germany.

Developed together with Studio Sarmīte and bespoke tailor Korinna Bennecker, the project consists of three textile works tracing historical routes of wool, silk and flax towards Frankfurt.

Abstracted tailoring patterns are combined with maps and material routes, creating a visual language between garment construction, geography and the movement of materials across places and cultures. Through translucent layers, embroidery and textile structures, the works explore exchange through both material and making.
